WHO WE ARE
The Institue of bioimaging and molecular physiology (IBFM) was founded on October 12th 2001, merging activities of Neuroscience and Bioimaging Institute in Milan, of Molecular physiology and biotechnology of the previous Institute of Advanced Biomedical Technology in Milan and of the Centre for the study of cerebral Neurophysiology in Genoa. Subsequently new Secondary Sites (SS) have been added a Cefalù (PA) e a Germaneto (CZ).
Locations:
-
Main site Segrate (MI) at Laboratorio Interdisciplinare di Tecnologie Avanzate (LITA);
-
SS Cefalù (PA), at Fondazione Istituto G. Giglio di Cefalù, istituita nel 2008;
- SS Germaneto (CZ), at Università Magna Graecia in Catanzaro, merged in 2013;
-
SS Lecco at Polo Tecnologico Lecchese, established November 2017, according to the resolution of Consiglio di Amministrazione  CNR  approved on February 26th 2015 .
IBFM is part of the Biomedical Sciences Department (DSB) (http://dsb.cnr.it/).
Our research aims to address major health challenges exploiting the following resources:
- Advanced technology : mainly in bioimaging with MR and PET scanners and collaborations with public hospitals and universities
- Multi-disciplinarity spanning from medical sciences to technology.
- Inter disciplines cross-talk /cross fertilisation : integration through collaboration among scientists with different expertise and synergism of different techniques into a common ground of investigation
- Link between bench and bedside : our basic research aims at immediate translation into the clinical arena.
These features are made possible by IBFM organisation in different labs with specific expertise and collaborations and research agreements with Universities both in Italy and abroad.
